Gary Bowersox is an internationally recognized gem hunter, explorer, lecturer, author, and gemologist whose love of adventure and passion for precious gems has taken him to more than 80 countries, and 35 years exploring Afghanistan.

He has discovered precious gems and led a life filled with loyal friends and extraordinary adventures, but not without risking his life.

In 1976, Gary received an exclusive license from the Ministry of Commerce of Afghanistan to import Lapis-Lazuli into the United States. In 1996, the Ministry of Mines and Industry in Kabul, Afghanistan appointed him consultant to the ministry. However, continued fighting in Afghanistan has hindered many projects. (more…)
